Jacob V. Johnson, age 15, of Ironwood, Mich., died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at home.

Jacob was born on May 29, 1990, in Ashland. He attended Ironwood elementary schools, and lived in Merrill for several years. He returned to Ironwood in September 2005, and was currently a freshman at Luther L. Wright High School. He was a member of the Ironwood-Bessemer Junior ROTC. Jacob was an avid snowboarder, ice fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his father, Jerry Johnson, Ironwood, Mich.; his mother, Jackie Gissel Resendiz, Merrill; brother, Justin Frisinger, Merrill; sister, Christina Frisinger, Merrill; paternal grandmother, Norene Johnson, Ironwood, Mich.; uncles, Ryan (Gail) Gregor, Weyerhaeuser; Phillip (Sasha) Gregor, Shell Lake; Wesley Johnson, Hurley; and Clayton (Sue) Johnson, Ironwood, Mich.; aunts, Carol (Forrest) Brady and Mary Starky, both of Ironwood, Mich.; Lynn Ann Bagger, Tucson, Ariz.; Kimberly Gregor, Brill; and Belinda (Eugene) Effertz, Spooner. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Jeanette Gregor; his paternal grandfather, Verner Johnson; and uncles, Richard and Steven Johnson.

Funeral services will be Thursday, march 9, 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood, Mich. Rev. Francis Strong will officiate. Burial will be in the Spooner Cemetery in Spooner.

Visitation will be held Thursday from noon until the service at the church. Arrangements are by Range Funeral Services Inc., Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood, Mich.
