Cornelia J. Hipke, 80, of 1102 S. Center Ave., Merrill, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.

Cornelia was born Aug. 22, 1925, in the town of Harrison, Lincoln County, daughter of the late Gerald and Antonia Zwaard. She married Clarence Hipke on Sept. 8, 1966. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1993.

Cornelia was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and casino trips, baking, crossword puzzles, gardening and reading.

Cornelia is survived by her children Ken (Darlene) Smith, Gleason; Sandra (Hugo) Schoeneck, Rhinelander; Suzanne Costa, Woodruff; Sonja (Dave) Belling, Tomahawk; Sally (Jerry) Gilliard, Merrill; Shirley (Larry) Thompson, Eagle River; and Cindy (Keith) Packard, Deerbrook; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister Betty Hagen, Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by brother John Zwaard.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 14, at Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in Forest View Cemetery, town of Vilas, Langlade County.
