Margaret M. Vanis, 67, of 1322 ½ W. Main St., Merrill, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Margaret was born Oct. 30, 1938, in Chippewa County, daughter of the late Linda Giese Schuster. She married Albert Vanis on Nov. 3, 1973, in the town of Berlin. He preceded her in death o July 16, 1989.

Margaret had been employed at Fromm Brothers in the town of Hamburg. She was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed creating scrapbooks and collecting items, especially family photographs.

Margaret is survived by her aunts Lillie Utech and Helen Giese, both of Athens; and LeElda Giese, Merrill; and numerous cousins. Besides her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Irene Giese.

Funeral services were Monday, March 27, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Kelly Leary officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery, town of Berlin.
