---Hipke, Alvin A. (14 Sept. 1915 – 23 March 2006)

Alvin A Hipke, 90, of Gleason, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at his residence under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born in Gleason on Sept. 14, 1915, Alvin was the son of the late Frank and Hilda Sundeen Hipke. He married Alice Seidel on Dec. 4, 1943, in Merrill. She died on Jan. 30, 1984.

Alvin served in the U. S. Army from 1942-1946 during World War II. Following his military service, he worked the Bloomville garage for many years. Alvin worked at Knispel & Latzig until his retirement. He attended Hillside Fellowship Church in Merrill. Alvin enjoyed fishing, working on small equipment and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters Alice Graves, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Audree Hipke, Gleason; and Gloria (Ronald) Leder, Gleason; sons James and Bruce (Tina), both of Merrill; 16 grandchildren; 33 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice, son Harry, sister Beatrice Christiansen and brothers Lester, Ray and Harold.

Funeral services were Monday, March 27, at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Allen Worlin officiated. Burial was in Gleason Cemetery, town of Russell.
