Joseph Albert Kromholz Jr., age 86, Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 7:10 a.m. at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Marshfield. Rev. Frank Picard will officiate and Coleen Austin will be the organist. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rembs / Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Joseph was born on January 23, 1918 in Merrill, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph Albert and Olga (Schram) Krombholz, Sr. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Merrill. He married Dolores M. Close on October 30, 1937 in Merrill. She died on December 18, 1984. He later married June M. Ingraham on October 10th 1987.

Joseph was employed at A.H. Weinbrenner from 1937 until 1966 and worked at plants in Merrill, Marshfield and Hurley. He moved to Marshfield in 1960 and served as plant supervisor until 1965 when he accepted the challenge to establish the new plant in Hurley. He opened the Hurley plant as operating manager and trained the entire work force. In 1966 he left Weinbrenner to work for the Marshfield Electric and Water Department and served as the storekeeper until retirement in 1983. He and Dolores were owners of The Uniform Cottage, Marshfield. He continued to operate the store after the death of Dolores until 1994 when it was sold.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Marshfield Elks Lodge #665 of Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, June and his children, Alan (Ruth) Kromholz of Sebring, Florida, Diane Simons of Gordon, WI, Joanne Johnson of Lake Villa, Illinois, Steven (Barbara) Kromholz of Appleton, and Marilyn (Jim) Seidl-Kramer of Marshfield. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. He is further survived by a brother, Carlos Krombholz of Fort Myers, Fl. and a sister, Irene Noyce of Lakeland, Fl.

He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, his sisters, Loretta Yonke, Louise Froehlich, and his brothers, Donald, Arnold and Ruben “Wally” Krombholz and his sons-in-law, Ole Johnson and Eric Simons.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in his name to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Building Fund, Marshfield.
