Laatsch Harry Albert Laatsch, 96, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday, (Oct. 27, 2004) resulting from a heart attack on Sunday, Oct. 24. He was born May 27, 1908, in Merrill, Wisconsin, to Fred and Mary Laatsch. In 1930 he married Christine Anna Vandre in Merrill and this marriage lasted 66 years. She died in 1997, he lived alone, and was never on any medication. The family moved to Colorado in 1944 and he worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal for two years. He was a diesel mechanic and worked in oil fields in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah until he retired. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Medford. Survivors are a son, Don of Eagle Point; two brothers, Bill of Austin, Texas and Pete of Casper, Wyoming; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, James, 1955, and Gordon, 1984, two sisters and two brothers. A memorial service will be Thursday, November 4, 2004, at 5 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Elders fund.
