Russell and Stacy Peck

Russell Peck, 37, and Stacy Peck, 32, Festus, Mo., died Sunday, March 4, 2007, in Missouri, as the result of an automobile accident.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Alden J. Beversdorf will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting with local arrangements.

Russell S. and Stacy L. Peck

Russell S. Peck, 37, and his wife Stacy L. Peck, 32, both of Festus, Mo., died Sunday, March 4, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident in Franklin County, Mo.

Russell was born Nov. 17, 1969, in Wausau, son of Roger and Janice Peck, both of Merrill. He graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1988, then from Concordia University, Mequon, in 1992 with a BA degree. He later earned a master's degree from National Louis University of Illinois. Russell worked for Lutheran schools in Missouri for the past 15 years, most recently as the fifth grade teacher, athletic director and basketball coach at King of Glory Lutheran School in St. Louis. Russell was also a member of the board of directors of "The Athletic Directors of the St. Louis Athletic League."

Stacy was born June 26, 1974, in Catawissa, Mo., daughter of Charles and Patricia Courtway, both of DeSoto, Mo. Stacy graduated summa cum laude from Culver Stockton College in June 1996. She was the media development manager for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, headquartered in St. Louis. She volunteered at King of Glory Lutheran School frequently, spearheaded the yearbook, operated the scoreboard at basketball games, and designed the basketball team T-shirts. The couple was on their way home from a committee meeting in Jefferson City, Mo. to help plan the state Lutheran basketball tournament on March 4.

Russell and Stacy were married Aug. 10, 1996. Although they had no children of their own, they had hundreds of kids at the school. They both loved to fish. It was usually Stacy that caught both the first fish and the biggest fish. They also shared a love for animals, and together raised several pets.

Survivors include Russell's parents, Roger and Janice Peck, Merrill; Stacy's parents, Charles and Patricia Courtway, DeSoto, Mo.; Russell's brother Ryan (Sara) Peck, Merrill, their nephew Brady Peck, Merrill, and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for the Pecks was held Saturday, March 17, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Alden J. Beversdorf officiated. Burial will take place at a later date in Mount Olive Cemetery, DeSoto, Mo.

The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted with local arrangements.
