Bert Buchanan

Bert Buchanan, age 79, of Tomahawk, died on Thursday, December 4, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on May 21, 1924, in Lodi, Wisconsin, to Fred and Marie Buchanan. He was united in marriage on January 21, 1955, to June Spletter. Bert proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was employed by Owens-Illinois for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He also had been an electrician in the area for many years. He enjoyed making woodcrafts, cribbage boards and lamps. He enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, and cooking. He had been a faithful member of the VFW.

Survivors include his three daughters, Betty (Pete Hodkiewicz) Behrndt of Rhinelander, Linda (Bob) Snyder of Tomahawk, Toni (Mark) Moldenhauer of Merrill; three sons, Arthur (Rena) Buchanan of Tomahawk, Ken (Doreen) Buchanan of Wausau, Jeff (Pam) Buchanan of Rhinelander; two sisters, Della Wadell of Tomahawk and Sylvia Nichols of Texas; seven grandchildren; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, June, in 2001.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 8, from the American Legion Post in Tomahawk. The Reverend John Miskimen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., until the services, at the American Legion, on Monday.

The Krueger and Sons Funeral Home, of Tomahawk, (715) 453-3808, is in charge of the arrangements.
