Dorothy Mae Leek

RECLUSE - At her request, no services will be held for Recluse resident Dorothy Mae Leek, 88, who died Feb. 19, 2004, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, of natural causes.

Born July 28, 1915, in Tomahawk, Wis., she was the daughter of Clifton and Anna (Bloomquist) Johnston; moved with the family to Brookings, S.D., and Huron, S.D.; and was educated in Huron.

In August 1935, she married Belmote E. Leek.

The couple moved to Recluse in 1955. A dedicated homemaker, she loved to sew; travel; clean house; play cards; and, especially, be with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Poppenga of Sunsites, Ariz., and Anne "Liz" Oedekoven of Recluse; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Oral, of California; a special cousin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Francis; and two sisters, Hilah and Marie.

In lieu of flowers, a memorials to benefit Pioneer Manor may be sent in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. Fifth St., Gillette, WY 82716.
