Doris A. Olson-Wistein

Doris A. Olson-Wistein, age 78, formerly of Merrill, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Doris was born on Nov. 7, 1925, in Jim Falls, Wis., to the late Anton and Mayme Reiter. She married Raymond Olson on July 9, 1945. They moved to Merrill, where they owned and operated the Merrill View Dairy and raised their six children. In November 1980, Doris married Milton Wistein, owner of Wistein Funeral Home.

Doris was a compassionate woman who would give the shirt off her back. She loved to dance, was a member of many social clubs and was a loving parent and grandparent.

Doris moved to East Troy, Wis., in September 1990. She worked at the East Troy Drug Store. She had lived at the Kiwanis Manor since January 2004, where she truly enjoyed the staff and loved the food.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Judy (James) Olson Haxton, Tomahawk, and Kerry (Richard) Olson Prosser, Elkhorn; four sons, James (Molly) Olson, Oshkosh, Steven (Laurie) Olson, Merrill, Gregory (Mary) Olson, Hot Springs, Ark., and Kenneth (Tanya) Olson, Merrill; one sister, Joanne Hancox, Milwaukee; and two brothers, Dennis Reiter and Thomas Reiter, both of Jim Falls.

Doris is further survived by 13 grandchildren, Heather Smith, Holly Teal, Sara Jacobs, Meghan, Kate, Bryan, Abbie and Matthew Olson, Bethany MacKenzie, Riley (Olson) Sliwinski, and Tony, Erica and Michelle Prosser; six great-grandchildren, Mandy and Samantha Smith, Justin and Jacey Teal, Jessica Jacobs and one more baby Jacobs on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Olson and Milt Wistein; her parents; her brothers, James and Robert Reiter; and her sisters, Monica McDonnel, Antonette Rufledt and Audrey Reiter.

Funeral services for Doris Olson-Wistein will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. The Rev. James Horath will officiate. Entombment will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11a.m.

Krueger & Sons Funeral Home of Tomahawk is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Kiwanis Manor, 3271 North St., East Troy WI 53120
