Wilmer J. Drew

Wilmer J. Drew, 91, Gleason, Friday, March 18, 2005, at Woodland Court, Merrill.

He was born Dec. 20, 1913, in the town of Schley, Wis., son of the late Guy and Selma (Doering) Drew. Wilmer married Irene Fischer on Jan. 9, 1941, in Merrill. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1993. On Dec. 9, 1995, Wilmer married Dorothy Sandmann in Bloomville, Wis. She survives.

Wilmer had farmed in the town of Schley. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bloomville. Wilmer enjoyed woodworking, making lawn ornaments, gardening, watching sports on television, following the Packers and watching the animals. In later years, Wilmer and his wife, Dorothy, would spend their winters in Arizona and Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Gleason; three daughters, Rita (David) Nicholson and Terry (Bill) Novotny, all of Deerbrook, and Jacquelene (Kenneth) Shaurette of De Forest; one son, Randy (Misty) Drew, Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Briggs, Merrill; seven sisters-in-law; and one brother- in-law.

Wilmer was preceded in death by two sisters, Valerie Heath and Lorraine Klemp; and two brothers, Kenneth and Shirley Drew.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. The Rev. Edward Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Doering Cemetery, town of Schley.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and will begin again at 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Woodland Court or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bloomville.
