Barbara Drake

Barbara J. ‘Bonnie’ Drake, age 62, of Salem, Ill., died on Jan. 28, 2005, at Salem Township Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Merrill, Wis., the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Gatterman) Alberg. She married Howard J. Drake on June 12, 1963, in Mexico.

Barbara formerly lived in Iowa, Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, South Carolina and Illinois. She enjoyed creating beautiful needlecraft pieces, bird watching and spending time with her beloved pets, Sheba and Amica.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Howard J. (Anne) Drake III of Gleason, Wis., William F. Drake of Augusta, Wis., and Robert P. (Julie) Drake of Woodlawn, Ill.; one grandson, William of Woodlawn; mother; sister-in-law, Mary (Barry) Sumner of Indianapolis, Ind.; niece, Christine (Pete) Gaul; and nephew, Stephen Sumner.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Private family services will be on Monday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home, 403 S. Broadway, Salem, Ill., with Rev. Darren Eultgen officiating.
