Jerome Rampart

Jerome (Jerry) Rampart, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Palmetto Hospice Home.

Born May 4, 1927, in Merrill, Wis., Jerry married Shirley Dorelius, of Wausau, Wis., after he returned from three years in the Navy. They moved from Merrill, to Bradenton, in 1956, where he was employed by Bellair Aluminum, until he became a mail carrier where he served for 30 years. His passion was sports, and he was active in this area into his 70's. He played with his church team, and many local, and outside fast softball teams, including the "Over 50" leagues. He was a twelve gallon blood donor, and a member of the Kirby Post American Legion.

Survivors include wife: Shirley of 57 years; daughter: Kerry Jo (Rod) Harper, of Bradenton; son: Robin Lee (Paula), of Spring Hill, Fla., and Maui, Hawaii; brother: Clyde of Kenosha, Wis.; granddaughters: Lindsay Lee Harper, of Bradenton, and Tallahassee, Fla., and Mia A.C. Medor, of Maui, Hawaii; grandson: Jason Harris, of New Port Richey, Fla.; great-granddaughters: Jasmine Medor-Umeno, and Emily Jade Harris-Umeno, both of Maui, Hawaii.

Memorial service will be held at Brown & Sons 43rd St. Chapel, on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, 3p.m.

Memorial donations to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, or to Faith United Church of Christ, 4850 State Road 64 East, Bradenton, FL 34208.
