Michael S. Tomajcik, 66, of Merrill, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Born in Merrill on November 12, 1938, Michael was the son of Evelyn Neumann Tomajcik and the late Sylvester Tomajcik. He married Carlyn Young on September 8, 1962, in Merrill. She survives.

Mike graduated from Merrill High School in 1957. He worked for Weinbrenner Shoe Co for 38 years, retiring in 1998. Mike served in the National Guard and was called into active duty in 1961 for the Berlin Crisis. He enjoyed going to Uncle John’s cottage, going to Las Vegas, taking his wife out to eat, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike’s family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan for the wonderful care Mike received during his last days…especially nurses Jodi, Melissa, Nancy, Angela and Linda; and Dr. Dodge and Dr. Lange; and the respiratory care. Your caring ways were so very deeply appreciated.

Survivors include his wife Carlyn, Merrill; daughters Laurie (Myron) Strand Jr., and Lynn (Bob) Kleinschmidt, both of Merrill; and Amy (Jim) Kelly, Green Bay; son Peter (Robin), Merrill; mother Evelyn Tomajcik, Merrill; grandchildren Stephanie and Abby Kleinschmidt, Joshua and Jeremy Leach, Matthew and Myron Strand III, Ryan, Rachel, Eric and Hannah Tomajcik, and Mitchell and Bradley Kelly; step-grandchildren Nathan Strand and Barbara (Keith) Williams; and step-grand-grandchildren Nyomi Strand and Kara Williams. He was preceded in death by his father Sylvester.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
