Arlie R. Pehlke, 69, of N975 Cty W, Merrill, Town of Pine River, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Arlie was born May 24, 1935, in the Town of Pine River, son of the late Albert and Anna Postler Pehlke. He married Lucille Schutte on April 8, 1961, in Merrill. She survivors.

Arlie enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served two tour of duty in Antarctica after serving in Korea. Arlie was a sales representative for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, and a former member of the Merrill VFW and the Merrill Optimist Club. Arlie enjoyed woodworking, hunting and camping.

Survivors besides his wife Lucille include daughter Sherry (Ron Frtiz) Beilke, Schofield; foster daughter Diana (Rev. Dan) Czech, Plover; sons Greg (Sherri) and Scott (Michelle Schwartzman), both of Merrill; Dean (Traci), Edgar; and Chad (Brandy), Merrill; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Laura Lee, Minocqua; and brothers Arnold (Jean), Oregon; Gordon (Shirley), Arizona; Gilbert (Emma), Rhinelander; and Leonard (Jane), Green Bay. He was preceded in death by brothers Rueben, Norman, Milton and Orie and half-sister Frances.

Funeral services were Friday, January 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Scott, with graveside military rites conducted by VFW Post 1638 of Merrill. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, was in charge of arrangements.
