Edward R. Martell, 78, of Merrill, died Thursday, January 6, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Born in Tomahawk on March 5, 1926, Edward was the son of the late Edward and Elnora Myers Martell. He married Marion Bollerey on March 5, 1960, in Merrill. She survivors.

Eddie worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1976. He went to small engine school and enjoyed “putzing” on lawn mowers. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Eddie enjoyed growing up in Tomahawk where with his friends he spent his time fishing, swimming and boating. In later years she belonged to the “Senior Club” in Irma. He also enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and going to stamp shows. Eddie was a very helping person for his family and anyone who needed help. He enjoyed visiting and joking with people and was often seen in auctions and rummage sales.

Survivors include his wife Marion and daughters Gwendolyn “Wendie” Martell and Patricia “Patty-Trish” Martell, all of Merrill; and many nieces, and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers.

Funeral services were Monday, January 10, at the Krueger & Sons Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Rev. Edward Powell officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Tomahawk. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
