Isabelle Schelbert, 89, of the town of Schley, died Tuesday, Janaruy 11, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing home, Merrill.

Born December 11, 1915, in Bludenz, Austria, Isabelle was the daughter of the late Josef and Josefine Kûng Scherrer. He married Paul Schelbert in Switzerland on July 28, 1951. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1995.

Isabelle had worked in a chocolate factory in Austria, then was a waitress in a hotel in Switzerland. She moved to the United States with her family in 1964. For the next 20 years, Isabelle farmed with her husband in the town of Schley. She was a long time member of St. John Catholic Church in Bloomville. Isabelle enjoyed knitting, dancing to polka music, her flowers, her cats, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son Wilhelm (Phylis), Merrill; grandchildren Willie (Tara) Schelbert, Merrill; Monica (Mickey) Pierce, Irma; Rose Schelbert, Merrill; Bernice (Brad) Leder, Gleason; and Anna Schelbert, Merrill; and great-grandchildren Elijah and Ethan. Also surviving are sisters Gertrude Goller and Rosemarie (Franz) Kamerlander and brother Georg (Marlies) Scherrerr, all of Austria. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, a sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 15, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. Rev. Edward Powell officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Fuenral Home, Merrill, handled the arrangements.
