Esther M. Krueger, 98, of 2100 E. Sixth St., Merrill, passed away Friday, January 21, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Esther was born August 3, 1906, in Freeport, Ill., daughter of the late Fred and Amellia Nickel Karow. She married Theodore E. Krueger on April 18, 1925, in the town of Pine River. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1985.

Esther was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was involved with the Ladies Aid. During her long life, Esther was a homemaker, she farmed in the town of Scott, she was 4-H leader for 30 years in the town of Scott, and she was a volunteer with the Gray Ladies at Pine Crest Nursing home. Esther will be fondly remembered for her hobbies of quilting and card playing.

Survivors include her children Eugene (Lorraine), LaValle; Lois (Armin) Barth and Joanne (LeRoy) Rahn, both of Appleton, Marian Wadzinski, Wausau; Armand (Sharon), Madison; and Sharon (Thomas) Smith, Merrill; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Raymond (Corrine) Karow, Minneapolis, Minn.; and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Karow, Lillian Burke and Elsie Krueger. She was preceded in death by sister Emily Karow, brothers Albert, Elmer, Oscar and Carl, and son-in-law Victor Wadzinski.

Funeral services were Wednesday, January 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
