---Leiskau, Roger “Wheels” H. (5 Nov. 1851 – 4 Feb. 2005)

Roger H. “Wheels” Leiskau, 53, of Oregon, Wis., passed away Friday, February 4, 2005, at his home.

Roger was born November 5, 1951, in Wittenberg, the son of Leo and Martha Ver Hagen Leiskau.

Roger was a former resident of Merrill. He was active in wrestling and football at Merrill High School. And was a member of the Silver “M” Club. He was interested in trucking and using his CB radio, but most of all, he enjoyed his cars, which were always Dodge Chargers. Roger was very outgoing, he loved to talk and tell stories. He had a wealth of knowledge and he had an answer for everything whether he was right or wrong. Although paralyzed at age 19, Roger overcame physical limitations by maintaining his independence and creating an active life.

He is survived by his mother Martha; his sisters Linda (LaVerne) Voigt, Merrill; Susan (Dennis) Yzermans, St. Paul, Minn.; brothers Leo (friend Linda Ney), Merrill; Peter (Jill), Stoughton; and Harvey, Oregon, Wis. He is also survived by his step-brother Dennis (Liz) Neumann, Merrill; and step-sisters Lynn (Neil) Zunker and Darcy Neumann, both of Merrill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Leiskau and his step-father Ronald Neumann.

Private family services were held at Informed Choice Funeral & Cremation Alternatives, McFarland. He will be laid to rest in Spring Brook Cemetery in the Town of Pine River in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
