Julia M. Krueger, 84, of Wausau, formerly of Merrill, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Wausau Manor Nursing Home, Wausau.

Born in Merrill on July 18, 1920, Julia was the daughter of the late John “Jake” and Meta Schielke Holzem. She married Marvin Krueger on August 15, 1936, in Irma. He preceded her in death in October 1983.

Julia worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Co. for 27 years. She was a former member of Trinity Ladies Aid and Red Cross Volunteers. Julia enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing cards, following the Brewers and Packers, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. Julia’s family would like to thank Wausau Manor and the staff for the 4 ˝ years of wonderful and loving care given her-especially to Mary and Jenny who were with her at the end.

Surviving are daughters June Krueger, Madison; and Wanda (Phil) Benzinger, Wausau; son Jerry, Merrill; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sons-in-law Edwin “Sonny” Beyer, Merrill; and Larry Michalski, Red Granite; and sisters-in-law Emma Clapper, Rhinelander; Carol Hartzke, Milwaukee; and Lucille Holzem, Merrill. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, daughters Kay Beyer and Karen Michalski, brothers John, Harold and Martin Holzem, and grandson Larry Michalski Jr.

Funeral services were Saturday, February 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, handled arrangements.
