Roman and Edna Koebe celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Nov. 23, 2004.

Roman Koebe and Edna Albert first met when they both worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. On a Friday night, the couple drove through the night to Dubuque, Iowa. They drove back home to Merrill the next day.

From 1944-1946, Roman served with the U. S. Army in World War II. The couple’s second child was only a week old when he left for active duty. Roman worked as an auto body repairman from 1945 to 1965. In 1965 he started KB Body Shop where he remains active in the business. Edna is a homemaker. Both are active and involved members at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. In their free time, Roman has a special interest in fishing while Edna enjoys sewing.

The couple has four married children including Jack (Karen) Koebe, Seymour; Bruce (Ann) Koebe, Palm City, Fla.; Marilyn (Virgil) Baumgart, Marshfield; and Jay (Polly) Koebe, Merrill. They also have 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
