---Kolka, Ron & JoAnne (Golden – 4 Sept. 2004)

Ron and JoAnne Kolka, Pier St., Irma, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 4, 2004, by hosting a reception and luncheon for friends and relatives at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. Rev. Heisinger of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Irma led the celebration with a prayer and table grace.

Members of the original wedding party in attendance included Jack and Audrey Kolka, Ryan, Iowa; Ron Hulke, Kenosha; Alan Bondioli, Pardeeville; and Sue Kolka Newling, Chicago, Ill. Unable to attend was Marlene Applebeck Reinhold of Florida.

On Sept. 11, 1954, in Bethany Lutheran Church, Irma. Ron married JoAnne Bondioli, and the love of the young couple was endured the test of time. Rev. John Freed officiated. At the ceremony, bouquets of gladioli in various colors adorned the church altar. “Because” and “Oh Perfect Love” were sung by Mrs. Marvin Schenzel. The organist was Mrs. Harry Nelson. A wedding supper was served at the American Legion Hall. The three-tiered bridal cake was baked by Mrs. Van Haren. A wedding dance was held at the Rod and Gun Club, Rock Falls.

Ron managed a number of grocery stores in the area and also worked in the sale of diary products, retiring in 1999. JoAnne worked at Hanson Glove and has now worked part time at Gruett Appliance for nearly 40 years.

Ron and JoAnne have two sons, Rocky (Laura), living in Sheboygan; and Randy (Susan), living Grand Rapids, Minn.; as well as grandchildren Ashley, Emily, Ryan and Ben Kolka.

Ron enjoys working in the woods with his favorite toy, a 1950 Farmall tractor. He enjoys fishing, hunting and looking into family and Lincoln County History. JoAnne enjoys lap swimming and working out at the Riverside Athletic Club, tending to her garden, flowers and feeding the brides. They have lived in their present home since 1960. They also enjoy spending time at their trailer in the town of Birch.
