Wilmer J. Drew, 91, of Gleason, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Woodland Court in Merrill.

Born in the town of Schley on December 20, 1913, Wilmer was the son of the late Guy and Selma Doering Drew. He married Irene Fischer in Merrill on January 9, 1941. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1993. On December 9, 1995, he married Dorothy Sandmann in Bloomville. She survives.

Wilmer had farmed in the town of Schley. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bloomville. He enjoyed woodworking, making lawn ornaments, gardening, watching sports on television, following the Packers, and watching the animals. In later years, Wilmer and his wife Dorothy would spend their winters in Arizona or Florida.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy, Gleason; daughters Rita (David) Nicholson and Terry (Bill) Novotny, both of Deerbrook; and Jacquelene (Kenneth) Shaurette, DeForest; son Randy (Misty), Las Vegas, Nev.; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Virginia Briggs, Merrill; seven sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by sisters Valerie Heath and Lorraine Klemp and brothers Kenneth and Shirley.

Funeral services were Monday, March 21, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. Rev. Edward Powell officiated. Burial was in the Doering Cemetery, town of Schley. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
