Kittie Scobie, 69, of Merrill, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Bell Tower Residence under Comfort Care and Hospice Services and the Bell Tower Staff.

Born in Antigo on October 3, 1935, Kittie was the daughter of Mildred McKenna Scobie and the late Frank Scobie.

Kittie graduated from Divine Saviour High School in Milwaukee. She then attended Alverno College and the UW Extension in Milwaukee. She gradated from UW Madison with a major in speech. Kittie received a teaching license from Edgewood College in Madison and a reading license from Carroll College in Waukesha. She also attended Baylor College at San Antonio, Texas, and Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee. Kittie taught at Edgewood College, kindergarten and third grade in Wausau, and English and reading at Lincoln Hills School from 1975 until retiring in 1995. Kittie was a member of the Lincoln County Tobacco Coalition, the Retired Teachers Association, a life member of the hospital volunteers, a member of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups, and the Club X to C Golf Course. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a former CCD teacher. She served as a member of Cursillo Group, the Legion of Mary, the Military Council of Catholic Women from 1960-1970, the Council of Catholic of Women in Merrill, and the Sweet Adelines. She worked 4 ½ years with the American Red Cross as a psychiatric medical social worker. Kittie also worked as a realtor in Merrill. She services 20 years in the U. S. Army Reserve. Kittie enjoyed camping, bowling, golfing, singing, playing the piano, square dancing and watching baseball, football, basketball and soccer. She had taken dance lessons from Fred Astaire in Milwaukee.

Survivors include her mother Mildred Scobie, Merrill; brother Michael Scobie, Seattle, Wash.; niece Debbie Scobie; nephew Dave Scobie, Los Angles, Calif.; great-nieces Allissa and Beanna, and great-nephews Zach and Thomas James.

Funeral services were Wednesday, April 6, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Rev. Joe Kleinheinz officiated. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family.
