Dorothy Ann Ellenbecker, 90, of Merrill, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Born Jun 3, 1914, in Marathon City, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Benno and Elizabeth Goldbach Dalsky. She married Melvin Ellenbacker, Sr., in Chicago, Ill., on December 31, 1938. He died on February 7, 1988.

Dorothy was a full time homemaker for her 11 children. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, cooking, praying and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughters Doris Ellenbecker, Kathaleen (Bill) Daverman, Jean (Jess) Humphrey, Judy (Bill) Bialecki and Carol (Steve) Willis, all of Merrill; sons Melvin Jr. (Carol), Merrill; Peter (Nancy), Chicago, Ill.; and Joseph and Anthony, both of Merrill; 47 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin, sons Louis and Dennis, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 21, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Rev. James Horath officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
