Duane Kenneth Koehler, 51, of Merrill, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.

Born September 28, 1953, in Merrill, Duane was the son of the late Kenneth Koehler and Mercedes Kalenski Weiss.

Duane was a graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He attended college at UW Eau Claire. Duane was a meat cutter at Drew’s Piggly Wiggly for over 30 years. He had served as a volunteer fireman in the town of Corning. Duane enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughters Christy (Jason) Haller, Chippewa Falls; and Stacy Koehler, Merrill; son Matthew, Merrill; and grandchildren Cienna and Mattigan Haller, Chippewa Falls, and Dawson Woller, Merrill. Also surviving are his sister Susan (Tim) Sann, Weston; brothers Bryan Koehler, Sr., Keith Koehler, Scott Weiss and Mark Weiss, all of Merrill; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Arnold Weiss.

Funeral services were Sunday, September 25, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Joel Danner officiated.
