David R. Hartwig, 62, of 501 Douglas St., Merrill, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

David was born October 22, 1942, in Merrill, son of the late Karl and Agnes Heinz Hartwig. He married Rita Rehfeld on April 18, 1964. She survives.

David retired from Northern Specialty Company, Merrill. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. David enjoyed fishing and hunting, feeding the wild birds and spending time at the family’s cabin in the town of Corning.

Besides his wife Rita, Davis is survived by sons Gregory (Betty) and Russell (Dawn), both of Merrill; grandchildren Rebecca, Katherine, Jackie and Jesse; sisters Rosemary Swanson, Idaho; and Louise (Bill) Billerbeck, Chicago, Ill.; and brother Marvin (Donna), Merrill. He was preceded in death by sister Grace and brothers Gordon and Francis.

Funeral services were Saturday, September 24, at the Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Alden J. Beversdorf officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
