---Plautz, Franklin (27 July 1915 – 13 Oct. 2005)

Franklin Plautz, 90, of Merrill, died Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Born in Merrill on July 27, 1915, Franklin was the son of the late Frank and Cora Krueger Plautz. He married Laura Poeske on August 6, 1938, in Wausau. She preceded him in death on February 23, 1987.

Franklin was foreman at Ritter Lumber Company for many years and worked at Anson-Gilkey Company for 10 years. His hobbies include woodworking, making sausage and fishing. Franklin was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ.

Surviving are his daughter Carol (Edward) Leavitt, Merrill; son Robert (Jolene), Merrill; grandchildren Brian (Vicky) Leavitt, Irma; Doug (Barb) Plautz and Brent (Carolyn) Leavitt, both of Merrill; and Kim (Paul) Everson; Rhinelander; six great-grandchildren and brother Wilbert (Pauline), Merrill. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura, half-brother James Plautz, and great-grandson Derek Leavitt.

Funeral services were Monday, October 17, at the Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Earl Eckhart officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.
