Joseph L. Monti, 56, of N4601 Poplar Rd., Irma, died Saturday, November 15, 2003, at Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill.

Joseph was born April 22, 1947 in Merrill, son of the late Joseph and Laona Kleinschmidt Monti. He married Karen Pankow on October 9, 1971, in Merrill. She survives.

Joseph worked for Duane Bushar Trucking and Excavating. He was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He enjoyed hunting, being outside and being involved in his son’s race team.

Surviving include his wife Karen, Irma; daughters Becky Monti, Merrill; and Marsha Monti, Irma; son Joseph G. Monti, Irma; and grandchildren Dustin, Abby and Molly. Also surviving are brothers Jerome (Peg), Gleason; Richard (Judy), Mayville; and Melvin, Irma; and sister Susie (Keith) Slusar, Racine. He was preceded in death by grandson Michael Clark; his mother and step-father Laona and Frank Kawalek, and his father Joseph L. Monti.

The funeral was Tuesday, November 18, at St. Stephen’s Untied Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Deb Kunkel officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
