---Severt, LeRoy E. (8 Feb. 1937 – 25 Aug. 2004)

LeRoy E. Severt, 67, of Beloit, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at his home.

LeRoy was born in Merrill on February 8, 1937, the son of Arthur Severt and Laura Lathrop Whitson. He married Birdie Lund on December 7, 1957, in Beloit.

LeRoy attended Merrill High School and served his country in the U. S. Army, serving in Germany. He was a maintenance welder for Beloit Corp. for 39 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved to support the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was a member of the VFW.

He will always be remembered as a loving grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. LeRoy loved to cook and took great joy in preparing the Thanksgiving feast.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years Birdie; daughters Sherri (Scott) Meacham, Laurie (Roger) Davis and Linda (James) Briggs; son Scott; grandchildren Morgan, Mallory and McKenzie Meacham; Lindsey and Abbey Davis; and Michael Severt; brothers Gene and Terry; sister Laurice (Tom) Schwartzman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gordon and Marlin.

According to LeRoy’s wishes, a private memorial service was held. Memorials in LeRoy’s memory may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, South Beloit, Ill. Or the Alzheimer’s Support Center, 1900 Center Ave., Janesville, Wis 53546. Schoenfield Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Pkwy., Beloit, assisted the family.

In the September 15 obituary for LeRoy Severt, the names of granddaughters Renee and Danielle Briggs were inadvertently omitted. The Foto News apologizes for the omission.
