Eleanor Augusta Wendorf, 81, of Merrill, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at her home.

Born in Merrill on October 18, 1922, Eleanor was the daughter of the late John A. and Amanda Lemke Buntrock. She married Clarence Wendorf on May 22, 1943, in the town of Scott.

Eleanor was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a graduate of the Wausau Academy of Beauty Culture. Eleanor was a housewife. She was also a beautician for Milo’s Beauty Shop. She was later employed at Quality Print, Ward Paper Mill and Oconomowoc Cannery. Eleanor also helped her husband at Trinity Lutheran Church and School and Lincoln County Bank. She enjoyed playing the piano, collecting family history and flower gardening.

Survivors include her husband Clarence; daughters Jane (Robert) Shorey, Madison; and Peggy (Richard) Berndt, Merrill; son Gary, East Troy; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Esther (LeRoy) Crueger, West Allis; and sister-in-law Loretta Buntrock, Merrill. She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were Monday, September 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Klemm officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, was in charge of arrangements.
