(16 Mar. 1919 – 23 Oct. 2004) Sylvia A. Sturm, 85, of Wausau, died Saturday, October 23, 2004, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. Sylvia was born March 16, 1919, in the town of Corning, Lincoln County, daughter of the late John and Anna (Koehler) Krause. She married Wilbert C. Sturm on June 18, 1938, in Merrill. He preceded her in death in 1968. Sylvia had been a homemaker, and along with her late husband owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Maine. After his death, Sylvia worked as a home care provider with the Lincoln County Department of Social Services, and also at the former Eddie’s Bake Shop in Merrill. Sylvia enjoyed entertaining and visiting with friends in her home. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Beverly Sturm, Merrill; two grandchildren, Debra Heise, Wausau, and Jeffrey (Sara) Sturm, Schofield; three great grandchildren, Emma Sturm, Kenneth Heise and Jared Sturm; two sisters, Lavila (Elroy) Schmidt, Merrill; and Phyllis (LaVern) Kottke, Athens; and three brothers, Lorenz (Lavine) Krause; Edgar (Emogene) Krause and Gilbert (Phyllis) Krause, all of Merrill. Sylvia is preceded in death by her son Gerald Sturm in April of 2003. The funeral was held Tuesday, October 26, at Faith Lutheran Church, Town of Maine. The Rev. Donald C. Schulz officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine. The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home of Merrill assisted the family with arrangements.
