Services for Andris Bernard Bursen of Merrill are 11 a.m. Friday, December 11, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Rev. Earl Eckhart will officiate. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 6.

Mr. Bursen, age 87, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. He was born in Sturgeon Bay on May 24, 1917, to Andris M. and Alma M. Goerler Bursen and was a former member of Bayview Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.

Many will remember Andris as an automobile salesman and mechanic. He was the former owner and operator of Bursen Motors in Sturgeon Bay, after which time hw as a mechanic for Peters Rambler-Dodge in Milwaukee. In later years, he was owner/operator of Car Electric Auto Center in West Milwaukee until his retirement in 1985. Andris was a member of Odd Fellows while he lived in Sturgeon Bay as well as in Milwaukee and Merrill, and was a member of the Sons of Norway Fossengrimen Lodge in Milwaukee for years.

Preceding him in death was his parents and wife Lillian Nelson Bursen in 1989 and his wife Delaine J. Hiller-Struman Bursen in February 2004.

Survivors include his son James A., Huntingburg, Ind.; daughter-in-law Katherine Bursen, Evansville, Ind.; daughter Jean (Ralph) Gregory, Brookhaven, Miss.; granddaughters Andrea Kay (Scott) Larson, Savannah, Ga.; and Kristin Margaret Gregory, Hattiesburg, Miss.; step-son Larry (Sandy) Hiller, Marathon; step-daughter Joy (Don) Ashbrook, Torrance, Calif. And numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many dear friends and extended family members.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s radio ministry in Merrill.
