---Rogers, Susan Elizabeth (5 Nov. 1911 – 11 Dec. 2004)

Susan Elizabeth Rogers, 93, of Merrill, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Born November 5, 1911, in DeLand, Ill., Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Sarah Twist-Weldon Milligan. She married John T. Rogers in 1940.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Champaign, Illinois, Commercial College, worked for the University of Illinois and at Chanute Air Force Base at Rantoul, Ill. She retired from the U. S. Civil Service Commission in 1975, having worked her final 11 years in Ankara, Turkey. While there, she spent most of Saturdays with Turkish children at the Kegioren Orphanage. She enjoyed traveling in earlier years and visiting with her friends at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, wheeling them to eat out and to church occasionally and taking care of her home and grounds prior to moving to Bell Tower Residence in Merrill.

She is survived by her son James, Merrill; and granddaughter Jennifer (Kenneth) Hofmaster, Marathon.

At Elizabeth’s request, there was no funeral or visitation. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, served the family.
