Marvin Sidney Fisher

Marvin Sidney Fisher, 82, of Gleason, died December 18, 2004 at Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander.

He was born January 7, 1922 in Polar, Wisconsin to Sidney and Pauline (Waistock) Fisher. He married Hope H. Oldenburg on May 25, 1949 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bundy.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy in World War II from 1942-1944. He was co-owner, with his wife, of Hope and Marv's Bar in Parrish from 1959 to the present. He worked at Breivogel Construction, Dietz Construction, and several road construction companies. He also worked at Sparks Logging and retired from the Rhinelander Paper Mill in 1977. He served as a supervisor and town chairman for the town of Parrish and was a member of VFW Post 1095 in Gleason and the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377 in Elcho. He was also a lifetime member of the Gleason Lions Club and was a member of the Tomahawk/ Merrill Tavern League.

Marvin also served as a fire warden for the town of Parrish.

Marvin loved bowling, gardening, spending time with family, hunting and fishing. Marvin is survived by his wife, Hope; two daughters, Sharon (Leonard) Krueger of Gleason and Marcia (Scott) Powell of Shioction; two sons, Michael (Cindy) Fisher of Parrish and Patrick (Susan) Fisher of Gleason. He is further survived by two sisters, Lorraine Fronek of West Bend and Adeline Eichkoff of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Visitation for Marvin Fisher will be held at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the town of Summit cemetery.

Gleason and Elcho veterans will stand honor guard from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

The Bradley Funeral Home of Antigo, 623-3787, is in charge of the arrangements.
