---Larkee, Earl & Carol (Golden – 9 Oct. 2004)

Earl and Carol Larkee, 810 Pier St., Merrill, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 9, with a dinner buffet prepared by their children at the Lake Pesobic Home of their daughter and son-in-law Carla and John Boucher. Carol’s wedding gown was on display and a hilarious mock wedding was performed. Other members of the wedding part present included Donna Heldt and Jack Broeren, both of Merrill; Janet Pope, Westfield; Carlton Hanson and John Cotter, both of Merrill; Roy Broeren, Dansbury; and Beverly Larkee, Watertown.

Earl and the former Carol Broeren were married October 9, 1954, in the First Presbyterian Church, Merrill, which they still attend and where both are elders.

The Larkee Family includes daughter Carla (John) Boucher, Merrill; sons Teri (Geri) Neenah; Tim (Joann), N. Fort Meyers, Fla.; and Todd, Woodville; and four grandchildren.

Earl worked at R. O. W. and Ward Paper until his retirement and now volunteers regularly for Habitat for Humanity. Carol worked at the Beauty Nook for 30 years and takes time to go to water exercises at the Merrill pool. Both enjoy spending time at their cabin, Bear Track Inn. Every summer they go to the Hodag Fest with many of their good friends. They have traveled to Hawaii, Florida and Mexico and taken numerous cruises.

The couple has lived in Earl’s childhood home their entire married life.
