Edna I. Baguhn

Edna I. Baguhn, 87, of Merrill, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Wausau Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on March 13, 1918, in Merrill daughter of the late August and Nathalie (Freitag) Voelz. Edna married Elmer Baguhn on June 8, 1946, in the town of Scott. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1989.

Edna worked in Milwaukee as a young woman in a department store. Later she worked at the Little Bohemia Resort in Mercer. Edna and her husband, Elmer, owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Scott, where they raised their four daughters. Edna worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. in Merrill for more than 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Edna was an original member of a local women's sewing club, which has met monthly for more than 50 years. She also belonged to a ladies social club, formerly known as Ladies Auxiliary Union Wives, made up of spouses of local military veterans.

Edna enjoyed watching wildlife in her backyard, her flower and vegetable gardens, crocheting and embroidering. For recreation she enjoyed bowling, going to the Merrill Senior Citizens Center, playing sheepshead and listening to polka music. Edna especially enjoyed traveling with her family on vacations. Her greatest pleasures came in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

At the time of her death, Edna was lovingly surrounded by her daughters, their families, and Wausau Manor staff.

Survivors include four daughters, Cheryl (Paul) Proulx, Jean (Michael) Ravn, Deb (Lloyd) Grund and Kathy (Randy) Pfantz, all of Merrill; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Rory) Jirovec, Laura Proulx and Molly Proulx, all of Merrill, Sarah Schield of Hopkins, Minn., Trina Ravn of Minneapolis, Maria Ravn and Trisha Ravn, Tim Grund, Megan Pfantz and Erik Pfantz, all of Merrill; one sister, Ellen Erickson of Merrill; and one brother, Arthur (Betty) Voelz of Merrill. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; two sisters, Mabel Hansen and Viola Dengel; and two brothers, Alfred and Wilbert Voelz.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. The Rev. David Klemm will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery in the town of Scott. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill and again from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or School.

Edna's family would like to thank Wausau Manor and staff for the 16 months of wonderful and loving care given to her.
