Herman E. Karpenske Jr.

Herman E. Karpenske Jr., 88, Merrill, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his home.

Herman worked at Semling & Menke in Merrill for approximately 25 years. He retired in 1986 after working for 22 years as the custodian of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill. Survivors include his wife, Florence (Boettcher) Karpenske, Merrill; two sons, the Rev. Jack (Peggy) Karpenske, Lynchburg, Va., and Cary (Emily Nelson) Karpenske, Wheaton, Ill.; one brother, Robert Karpenske, Sonoma, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Merrill. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
