Mary Wiegel

Mary Wiegel, 89, of Merrill died Friday, April 2, 2004, at Good Samaritan Health Center Merrill.

Mary was born May 29, 1914, in Lincoln, Neb., daughter of the late Henry and Marie (Constance) Mohrland Sr. She was married to Henry Wiegel on May 12, 1946, by the Rev. Wilbert Schulz at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mohrland Sr. Henry Wiegel preceded her in death Aug. 25, 2001.

She had worked at Concordia College in Milwaukee for many years. She had also worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Co. Mary enjoyed her flowers, gardening, collecting stuffed birds, playing the games offered at Pine Crest Nursing Home, and visiting with friends and relatives.

Survivors include two sons, Henry E. (Irma) Wiegel of San Ramon, Calif., and Donald J. (Pam) Wiegel of Oconomowoc; one daughter, Mary "Mary Ann" (Jerry) Schroeder of Merrill; six grandchildren, Todd (Sherri) Wiegel of Pleasanton, Calif., Brenda (Michael) Scott of Tracy, Calif., Chad (Molly Lindahl) Schroeder of Platteville, Sharisa Wiegel of Watertown, Ashley (Jon Jordan) Schroeder of Merrill, and Aaron Wiegel of Madison; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Justin Wiegel; five sisters, Katherine (George) Krass of Chippewa Falls, Helen (Sid) Kline of Bensonville, Ark., Lydia Salefske and Emma Plautz, both of Merrill, and Ruth Hintz of Wausau; and one brother, George (Beatrice) Mohrland of Merrill. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Mohrland and Elsie Saeger; and four brothers, Henry Jr., Herman, Rudolph and one infant brother.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Berlin. The Rev. Jeffrey Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, town of Berlin. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and Thursday from noon until service time at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Berlin or Northland Lutheran High School.
