Barbara A. Hass

Barbara A. Hass, 73, of Merrill died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and Bell Tower staff.

She was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Knox to the late Thomas and Anna Elvira (Alm) Berhow. Barbara married Clifford Hass on Feb. 22, 1947, in Phillips. He passed away on Jan. 5, 2002.

She worked at Hanson Glove, Weinbrenner Shoe Co., and Merrill Manufacturing. Barbara was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Corning and a member of the Alter Guild. Barbara enjoyed decorating cakes, reading, growing flowers, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Douglas) Alderton and Nancy Hass, all of Merrill; three sons, Jerry (Wanda) Hass, Oregon, Wis., Rick (Kerry) Hass, Merrill, and Todd (Sandra) Hass, Wausau; 10 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Mary Lee Haag, Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christopher Runge and Rebecca Runge; one son-in-law, Robert Runge; three sisters, Winifred Pagel, Mertice Roeder and Margaret Lizak; and two brothers, Vernon and Franklin Berhow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Corning. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, town of Corning. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and will begin again at 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.
