Lila Mae Hodgson

Lila Mae Hodgson, age 78, of 2100 E. Sixth Street, Merrill, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Lila was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Hubert and Lavine (Brandenburg) Krueger. She married Mark Karau in the fall of 1942. The marriage ended with his death in 1945. She married Lee E. Hodgson on April 28, 1948 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2002.

As a young child, Lila was involved in 4-H. Lila had been a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was involved in the Ladies Aid and the Prayer Chain. Lila befriended everyone at Pine Crest Nursing Home as an inspiration advocate.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Clifford) Gorman, Jr., Mosinee, Ruth (Rowe) Zentner, Minocqua, and Kay (Jonathan) Schulz, Rib Falls; four sons, Larry (Karen) Karau, Green Bay, Jerry (Dixie) Karau, Green Bay, Jim (Marilyn) Hodgson, Merrill, and Dan (Karen) Hodgson, Merrill; three sisters, Betty Streich, Jean (Jerry) Rice, and Sally (Rudi) Neubauer, all of Merrill; two brothers, John (Carol) Krueger, Neenah, and Herman (Loretta) Krueger, Merrill; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Lila was preceded in death by her son, William Hodgson, and her stepfather, Elmer Kufahl.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Alden J. Beversdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

The Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
