He lived there until seventeen years of age, and then went to Grand Rapids, Wis. June 1, 1881, he came to Merrill and opened his present market. He was married, at Grand Rapids, March 18, 1879, to Minnie Plaumer. She was born in Berlin, Prussia, March 28, 1858. They have one child, Amanda.
