Mercedes M. Weiss, 73, of Merrill, died Friday, April 25, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

Born September 25, 1929 in Merrill, Mercedes was the daughter of the late Richard and Florence (Eggers) Kalenske. She first married Kenneth Koehler on May 19, 1951, in Merrill. He died August 18, 1962. She then married Arnold Weiss on June 6, 1963, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1998.

Mercedes farmed in the town of Scott and then worked at Wal-Mart until retirement. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, and playing cards.

Surviving are sons Duane, Brian, and Keith Koehler, and Scott and Mark Weiss, all of Merrill; daughter Susan (Tim) Sann, Schofield; grandchildren Christy (Jason) Haller, Matthew and Stacey Koehler, Jessica (Gabriel) Steinagel, Brian Jr. and Chad Koehler, and Ashley and Amanda Koehler; and great-granddaughter Cienna Haller. She was preceded in death by husbands Kenneth Koehler and Arnold Weiss.

Funeral services were Monday April 28 at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, Rev. Kelly Leary officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, was in charge of arrangements.
