Lillian E. Zimmerman, 93, Merrill, died March 31, 2003, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.

Lillian was born on May 14, 1909, in the town of Corning, to Arthur and Martha (Hass) Schmidt. She married Edwin H. Zimmerman on October 18, 1930 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1979.

Lillian was a member of the St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, and also was involved in the church’s Mission Circle and Women’s Guild. Also, she was a member of the FVW Auxiliary. Lillian enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice (Norman) Ziemke, Merrill; two daughters-in-law, Kathy Zimmerman, Merrill, and Jean Zimmerman, Naperville, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Ruben Schmidt, and Arthur (Phyllis) Schmidt, both of Merrill; four sisters, Elsie (Clarence) Bade, Laura (Clarence) Hahn, Selma Adams, and Dorothea Kleinschmidt, all of Merrill. Lillian was preceded in death by two sons, Edgar and Vernon Zimmerman; one daughter, Ruth Mae Zimmerman; two grandchildren, Jolynn and Christopher Zimmerman; and four brothers, Elmer, Alfred, Norman and Fritz Schmidt.

Funeral services were held on April 3, 2003 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. Rev. Deb. Kunkel officiated. Burial was at Merrill Memorial Park. The Taylor and Stine Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
