Sharon D. Canfield

Aug. 26, 1936 -- Aug. 13, 2005

Port Townsend resident Sharon D. Canfield died of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 68.

Born in Merrill, Wis., to Keith Wood and Geneva Marie (Hinkley) Dobson, she attended Port Townsend schools through 10th grade, when she moved to Killeen, Texas, where she graduated.

She returned to Port Townsend, where she met Ralph W. Canfield, whom she married on Jan. 9, 1955.

Mrs. Canfield was a double retiree, the first time from Safeway Stores Inc., and the second from the city of Port Townsend.

She had a passion for the island of Maui, where she and her husband made yearly trips. They also enjoyed visiting their summer cabin at Beckett Point.

Mrs. Canfield was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Russell W. and Sandra Canfield of Washougal; daughter Karen D. Cartmel of Port Townsend; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband died July 21, 2005; daughter Deborah Lee Canfield died March 11, 1977; and her brother Donnie Dobson died at age 16.

Services: Graveside service to be announced. The Canfields will be placed in Laurel Grove Cemetery with their daughter, Debbie.

Memorials: Charity of choice. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
