Allen J. "ALZ" Zastrow, 37, passed away unexpectedly June 1, 2001, at the family home in Westcliffe.

Survived by his life partner, Dennis Francen, of the family home; grandmother, Eleanor Zastrow of Ketchikan, Alaska; brothers, Pete (David Falk) Zastrow of Port Orchard, Wash., Sam Zastrow of North Pole, Alaska, Mark (Tracy) Zastrow of Gleason, Wis., and Paul (Barb) Zastrow of Tomahawk, Wis.; three nieces; one nephew; numerous close friends; and the family pets, Greta and Andrew.

Preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred (nee Durkes) Zastrow. ALZ was born Sept. 6, 1963, in Tomahawk, Wis. He entered the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 and received his honorable discharge. He was a longtime Pueblo resident and was currently serving as executive vice president of the Pueblo Association of Realtors. Active member of the Colorado and National Association of Realtors and was named volunteer of the year by the Pueblo Association of Realtors in 1997. He participated in Leadership Pueblo and was an active member and served on the board of directors for both COPA and The Impossible Players. ALZ loved Pueblo and all Puebloans and Pueblo loved him. He lived life to the fullest and by his charisma you always knew when he entered the room. Many will remember him by his orange VW bug.

He will lie in state at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at USC Hoag Hall, 2200 Bonforte Blvd., with Jude LaFollette officiating.

A reception will follow the memorial service at the family home in Pueblo.

Those who desire may make memorials to the Impossible Players Building Fund, through the funeral home.
