---Haffemann, Karl E. #2 (30 Dec. 1922 – 2 Feb. 2004)

Karl E. Haffemann, 81, Merrill, died February 2, 2004, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Karl was born December 30, 1922, in Marathon County, to Albert and Rosa (Krueger) Haffemann, He married Lorna M. Schmidt on March 2, 1946 in Merrill. She survives.

Karl retired in 1988 as the manager of the Social and Sick Tavern in Merrill. He has worked for more than forty years as a bartender in the Merrill area. He also worked at the former Lincoln Cleaners, Merrill for many years. Karl was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, and a former member of the Social and Sick Benevolent Society. In his free time, Karl enjoyed fishing.

Survivors besides his wife, Lorna, of Merrill, include one daughter, Dawn (Fred) Kleinschmidt, Merrill; two sons, James (Rosemary) Haffemann, Houston, Texas, and Brian (Barbara) Haffemann, Merrill; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Brenda, Thomas, Kevin, Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Mathew; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Taylor, and Porsche. Karl was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Edgar, Roy, Milton, and George.

Karl's funeral service was held on February 5, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Kenneth Albers officiated. Burial was in Merrill Memorial Park, Merrill. The Taylor and Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, assisted the family with arrangements.
