Leona Ida Kleinschmidt, age 84, Merrill, died May 25, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill, Wisconsin.

Leona was born on August 18, 1919 in the town of Maine, to William and Helena (Scharbus) Raasch. She married Louis Kleinschmidt on June 29, 1940 in Merrill, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1997.

Leona had worked with her husband on their farm in the town of Scott. She had been a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Scott and the church's Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, polka music and dancing, spending time with her grandson and attending family gatherings.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana (Ellis) Wendt, Merrill, and Julie (Steven) Berg, West Salem; one grandson, Matthew Berg, West Salem; and one sister-in-law, Doris Raasch, Merrill. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; one son, Steven; and one brother, Leslis Raasch.

Services will be held on Friday, may 28, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Weiland will officiate with burial in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Waid Funeral Home.
