Herbert A. Schulz, 92, of Vassar, Mich, formerly of Merrill, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the home of his daughter in Vassar.

Herb was born Sept. 17, 1913, in the town of Scott, son of the late Paul and Minna (Paqui) Schulz. Herbert married Agnes Plautz on June 17, 1939. She died March 1, 2006.

Her had farmed in the Town of Pine River and was a farm machinery mechanic. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine River. Herb enjoyed traveling to see his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene (Dean) Yates of Seward, Neb., and Dianne (Kevin) Stresman of Vassar; four sons, Herb (Jane) Schulz, Jr., of Weston, David (Jeanette) Schulz of Merrill, Gary (Gail) Schulz of Connor, Mont., and Don (Loretta) Schulz of Rio Rancho, N. M; 12 grandchildren, Susie, Brian, Jim, Mark, Dawn, Courtney, Josh, Andrew, John, Patrick, Katie, and Kassie; three step-grandchildren, Pam, Mike and Rodney, nine great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul (Gertrude) Schulz of Merrill.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; three sisters, Cecil Mahn, Hertha Burbey and Helen Schulz; and one brother, Herman Schulz.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. Deacon Darrell Gieschen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pine River. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, and again from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
