Edwin Schmidt

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ for Edwin Schmidt, 82, 215 Grand Ave., who died at Holy Cross Hospital on Sunday. Rev. Jonathon Knecht officiated and burial was in Merrill Memorial Park.

Mr. Schmidt was born on Dec. 12, 1893 in Merrill, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt. On June 26, 1915 in Merrill he was married to Ella Neubauer. She died Jan. 15, 1972.

A life-long resident, he was head sawier for Stange's Saw Mill and was engaged in farming prior to his retirement. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Verna) Zuelsdorff, Route 1, Merrill and Mrs. Alvin (Grace) Prast, Route 4, Merrill, a son, Lester Schmidt, Route 4, Merrill, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
